Citta' Del Vaticano

That is what the cool stamp said on the postcard I just received. My friend Lisa was in Rome recently and she sent postcards to all her buddies.
It's going up on my "French" memo board. So glad I bought that thing.
How Fun!

On course...

The networking event was very good practice for me. I am sometimes shy and this was a small gathering so it was perfect. I handed out C.'s cards to the people I struck up a conversation with and it was time well spent because it was so enjoyable.
The rest of the week has been busy at my day job with year end items, but I have organized my time so that I can be consistent.
I have over 100 contacts in my list, and I want to get it to 250. Next step is to ABC it as I go.
C. gave me this book "The Referral of a Lifetime" and it makes so much sense.
More later...

Networking

I am off tonight to a specialty niche networking event, spoke today with a woman who is the organizer of the event. She's so positive and upbeat! I look forward to meeting her and talking about SoC.

Thanksgiving...

Had a nice day yesterday. Went to two dinners. We are rich in the way of friends my partner and me.
Tomorrow I am meeting my SoC coach C. and we're going to Whidbey Island for a Vendor blender. There will be many booths and people to meet. Spending some time with C. and getting some training too.

Busy Weekend and Morning

We worked on getting the garage cleaned out. It was very cathartic.
Dropped off the truck to Chris's parents house, they got my Redneck Thanksgiving card! It looked really good.
Then I went next door and showed SoC to Reggie and she sent a card. R. had some questions and so I connected her with Cyndi to answer them. After that I hung with R. and the bassets. Very fun.

Send a card to my cousin Tina in AZ. Called her too, it was so good to speak with her.

I looked at my Birthday Reminders, and will synch up the info from there into my SoC contacts. It will be good to get it all in one place finally.

Did a bit of exercise this morning. T-Tapp primary back stretch. It is my promise to myself to do that couple minutes each morning. I can do that.

Congrats to M.!

My buddy M. sent an email to tell me of a work accomplishment. It was something that will be impacting her lifestyle in a very positive way, and it also meant huge recognition for her.

I was able to quickly send out a congratulations card and a cookie sampler. Hooray!

In the moment...

Today I find myself looking up and listening to people more. Having genuine interest in what they have to say. It's this powerful shift in context that's fun and not sapping my energy either.
Being in the moment simply means awareness. Listening with an open mind.

This might be simply the excitement of a new project, but for now I am going with it.

I ran into someone as I was downstairs getting a sandwich late in the day. It was a young woman who was looking at a vacant spot in our building for her business, she bakes cakes! What is it about cakes today? There's a theme going on I think. This morning I was speaking to the owner of a local bakery / coffee shop where I live. As he was making my drink, he showed me a book of his cakes. All kinds of beautiful creations! Looking at the photos made me think of a really neat wedding cake I'd seen online and I mentioned it to him. He'd given me his business card and name, so when I got back to a computer I designed a card with the pirate cake picture in it and sent the card to him.

Anyway, I took the young woman Helen to our building's property management office. Hope it helps. Maybe we'll have a cake shop in the near future. She'll probably get good business just from our building alone.

A bit spinny...

Sometimes it's my custom to spin my wheels when I get excited about something. I was going in five different directions yesterday and a bit today as I thought about what a cool thing SOC is.

It's so helpful to be able to send something out immediately when I think of it. The internet has connected us to many people, and I have so many friends near and far. It's difficult to keep track of it all. I didn't mind doing the e-cards and I still might use them from time to time. But there's something appealing about getting a nice card in the mail too.

Told a couple of my bosses about it yesterday, and sent them to my banner. I don't think that was the best idea because well, they're busy. My coach Cyndi confirmed my thoughts that it indeed wasn't as personal to send someone to your banner as a first contact.

So instead I picked a couple of funny cards and sent them to my bosses B and D.

Remember: All I need to do right now is -

1. Think of someone I want to send a card to.
2. Send them a card.
3. Do that each day.

So that's what I've been doing. *Whew!* No working myself into a needless frenzy!

Story -- A sender of Cards....

And so it begins...

I love getting cool cards in the mail and sending them too. I've always envied the people who are seemingly organized enough to send cards out on birthdays or just on a whim. I don't get a chance to go to the card shop much, because I'm doing other things and don't make the time, so I didn't send many cards.

On the train a couple days ago I saw this woman, I had noticed her because she's always wearing the coolest jewelry and trinkets. I think I'm part ferret because I like shiny things! So, I sat next to her, her name is Kathy - and we struck up an enjoyable conversation.

Suddenly I remembered that I had four cards in my purse that needed to go out, and I didn't have stamps. But Kathy did and gave me some. Then she told me about this cool site where you could go design and personalize a card, address it, and then they'd produce a beautiful card, put it in an envelope, with a stamp and send it out. I was very excited to hear about this!

Then I spoke to Cyndi with Send Out Cards. After listening to her for a bit, I decided this was right up my alley. Spontaneous, simple, and the ability to spread random cheer!

I signed up yesterday.
So far I've sent out twenty something cards.
I think this is a good fit.
